2021 Canadian Cyclocross Championships Cancelled

MESSAGE FROM JON WATKIN, RACE ORGANIZER


Today, the Wheelhouse Cycling Society has announced, with key partners, the cancellation of the Lazer Canadian Cyclocross Championships at Bear Mountain, Langford BC, which was last re-scheduled for January 7-9, 2022. The event was to headline the Canadian Cyclocross Championships on January 8 as well as the BC Championships on January 9. Other events such as the Lezyne Blackout CX Single Speed and Cycling BC iRide Expo were also scheduled during this time in addition to a Bike Expo, Food Court, and a Beer Garden. The event was billed to attract hundreds of visitors, participants and racers from across Canada.


On December 17, the BC Government announced additional measures to mitigate the spread of Covid- 19, which include a ban on all amateur tournaments and associated travel.


The Wheelhouse Cycling Society team will be working with the Host Venue, City of Langford, Cycling BC, Cycling Canada, and the UCI to prepare for the next Championships which will take place during the 2022-23 Cyclocross season. Dates will be announced in early 2022.

  • On December 31, 2021, any remaining entries will be transferred to the 2022 Canadian Cyclocross Championship Event Start List - Dates TBD
